22 April 2022

In 2022, we have renewed our partnership with the NRL Cowboys House for a further twelve months and we are proud to continue our support as naming rights partner of the Learning Centre.
Established in 2015 by the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys, the Cowboys Community Foundation is a community-owned charity improving employment, health and social outcomes for young North Queenslanders through education-based programs, including NRL Cowboys House and Try for 5!
The Learning Centre at NRL Cowboys House is the hub for assigned homework and additional tutoring and is equipped to inspire learning, with computer stations, creative spaces and motivational messages to encourage the Year 7-12 students to achieve their best.

In Australia, some 50% of Indigenous students in remote Indigenous communities do not complete secondary school and, in more remote regions, have no access to secondary schooling locally.

Through the support of these partnerships, Wilson Security is continually working to support local communities to provide procurement, employment and learning opportunities through our Making Tracks program and community partnerships.

Statistics from Cowboys' Community Foundation:

  • 154 primary schools in the North Queensland region have an attendance rate below the state average of 92.5%; 21 have an attendance rate of 85% or less.
  • Only 57% of Indigenous students in the region progress from year 10 to completion of year 12, compared to 77% of non-Indigenous students.
  • Only 17.1% of Indigenous students in the region achieve Overall Position (OP) eligibility compared with 54.3% of non-Indigenous students.
We look forward to continuing to boost the Learning Centre’s important work in providing academic support and tutoring for students.
