Wilson Security recognised as ABA100 Winner for Business Innovation

MELBOURNE, Australia, 7 OCTOBER 2021 – Wilson Security, Australia’s leading security company, has been recognised as an ABA100 Winner for Business Innovation in The Australian Business Awards for its work in establishing the Innovation Advisory Council (IAC).

The IAC was created to build new, breakthrough solutions for its customers that will adapt to evolving needs and issues. The IAC is chaired by Narelle Cirillo, National Manager Operational Innovation, and its members include representatives from each business line across both senior and frontline roles.

The ideas presented to the IAC are verified using its Proof-of-Concept Trials. The goal is to interrogate and explore the application of the ideas to a point where they may be used to enhance Wilson Security’s service delivery and futureproof its business sustainability.

Since the IAC’s creation in June 2020, Wilson Security has increased staff engagement and changed culture within its own workforce, completed four Proof of Concept Trials, and developed a Customer Innovation Workshop framework in collaboration with Sayers.

“Despite the challenges presented by COVID-19, we have continued to drive innovation to develop the next generation of tools, technologies and practices that defines our position as an industry leader in Australia,” said Nick Frangoulis, Chief Executive Officer of Wilson Security. “We are proud to be recognised by the Australian Business Awards for the creation of the Innovation Advisory Council, which is reflective of our passion for our work and the customers we service.”

In addition to the Wilson Security representatives on the IAC, the Company engaged its ecosystem partners including its customers, platform providers and technology specialists to accelerate ideas to values.

Wilson Security actively collaborated with Sayers Group to expand the Company’s understanding of modern ways of working, to test ideas at speed and to assist in connecting with leading technology platforms. A key outcome of this collaboration was the development of a Customer Innovation Workshop framework, which is used to refine ideas and co-create solutions that are centric to individual client concerns and needs.

“As proud partners with Wilson Security, we congratulate the IAC in receiving well-deserved recognition for its outstanding work,” said Luke Sayers. “Their approach to innovation is deliberate and illustrates how the company embraces change to solve pressing challenges.”

Of the 22 ideas submitted since June 2020, four of the concepts reached the Proof-of-Concept Trial stage. This stage enables Wilson’s client partners to implement real-life solutions that have possible applications that will add even more value and robust processes to its security services offering.

One of the trials explored the use of wearable glasses by security guards. The concept enabled guards to easily communicate with technical personnel via web-based application. The security guard was able to talk through a range of issues on site including, maintenance, managing security situations and reviewing security risks,  and provide the off-site technical personnel with clear footage of what the security officer is seeing. This minimised on-ground security’s reliance on phones to communicate and receive updates from supervisors and enabled training staff to easily demonstrate the technical procedures via video conference tools in real time. Proof of Concept was put into place with a customer in the Commercial Real Estate sector, and the feedback has been very positive.

“Through our Proof-of-Concept Trials, we found that augmented reality and wearable glasses technology has several great applications in security work today and may play a larger role in other solutions, such as repairs and maintenance,” said Frangoulis.

“Establishing the IAC is an important milestone in establishing clear and productive processes that support innovation within the company, creating an innovative culture, and ensuring that we are properly supporting the intent to meet new and emerging challenges.”
