Making the move to touchless access control

As facilities and buildings gradually reopen and see people come through their doors, businesses face the pressure of managing access control while maintaining COVID-safe measures.

A key challenge businesses face is controlling the movement of people in and out of their facilities while avoiding touching buttons or getting too close to another person.

Access control is about validating identity and allocating access to a place, whether it’s digital or physical. Traditionally this has involved key cards, gates or badges. All these measures involve the physical engagement of someone touching something or having to come in close contact with someone else. This may compromise the priority on health and safety measures such as social distancing and contact tracing.

Touchless access control provides enhanced COVID-safe adherence and maintains a high level of security without compromising convenience. Legacy systems such as key cards are becoming obsolete as iris scanners and Bluetooth credentials take over.
