Introduction & Background

In 2025, Wilson Security deepened its commitment to meaningful community collaboration through a partnership with Worawa Aboriginal College, a renowned educational institution in Healesville dedicated to empowering young Aboriginal girls through education, cultural identity, and wellbeing. This partnership represents more than a service delivery initiative - it reflects a shared vision for creating safer, more inclusive, and culturally grounded environments for future generations.

Worawa Aboriginal College provides a unique learning experience that integrates academic education with cultural learning, led by respected Elders and community leaders. As the College continues to grow, so does the need for modern infrastructure that supports student safety and wellbeing in an unobtrusive, culturally sensitive manner.

Recognising this, Wilson Security partnered with the College to deliver a targeted technology upgrade designed to strengthen security, reduce operational costs, and ensure the campus remains a protected and welcoming space for students, staff, and community leaders.

The Campus Safety Upgrade

Wilson Security provided a campus-wide and tailored electronic security solutions that include CCTV and Access Control, that aligned with the College’s priorities of safety, reliability, and long-term sustainability. The upgrade included:

  • Modern security technology to enhance monitoring and response capabilities
  • Systems designed for reliability and minimal disruption, ensuring that security supports, rather than interferes with, the learning environment

This collaborative project was delivered with a focus on cultural safety, transparency, and respect for the unique context of the College’s learning community.

A Cultural Exchange of Respect and Learning

To mark the completion of this stage of the partnership, Wilson Security leaders were invited to the College for a special cultural experience led by Aunty Lois Peeler AM, Executive Director of Worawa Aboriginal College and a respected First Nations Elder.

The visit included:

  • A guided walk along the Dreaming Trail, offering insights into the stories, values, and cultural knowledge that shape the College’s identity
  • Opportunities for deep listening and cultural learning
  • Reflections on the shared purpose of supporting safe, culturally strong spaces for Aboriginal students

This engagement reinforced the belief that strong partnerships with First Nations communities are built through connection, respect, and continued learning, not just service delivery.

Alignment with Wilson Security’s Reconciliation Commitment

The partnership aligns closely with Wilson Security’s broader organisational goals, particularly its commitment to reconciliation and the development of long-term relationships with First Nations communities. It demonstrates:

  • A practical contribution to cultural safety and community wellbeing
  • A genuine commitment to listening, learning, and working collaboratively
  • An investment in initiatives that create shared value and positive community outcomes

Conclusion

The partnership between Wilson Security and Worawa Aboriginal College demonstrates what can be achieved when organisations work together with shared respect, purpose, and commitment. It is a model for community-centred collaboration - one that honours culture, enhances safety, and builds lasting relationships grounded in mutual learning.

Wilson Security extends heartfelt gratitude to Aunty Lois Peeler AM and the Worawa College community for their warm welcome, generosity of spirit, and leadership.
