Case Study: Wilson Security & Synergy – A 20-Year Partnership in Security & Safety

Partnering with Synergy to mitigate risk and create safer workplaces - A Long-Standing Partnership Built on Trust & Safety

For over 20 years, Wilson Security has been a trusted security partner to Synergy, Western Australia's leading electricity generator and retailer.

Through a shared commitment to safety, innovation, and operational excellence, our partnership ensures 24/7 protection of Synergy's critical infrastructure, workforce, contract partners, and visitors.

Our role extends beyond traditional security services—we work alongside Synergy to:

  • Create a safer workplace for everyone.
  • Mitigate risk.
  • Foster a culture where safety and work are not competing priorities, but together deliver operational efficiency.

Tailored Security Solutions Across Synergy's Operations

Wilson Security delivers 24/7 security, medical response (via Wilson Medic One), and risk management services across Synergy's high-risk, highly regulated energy sites, including Kwinana Power Station, Pinjar Power Station, Muja Power Station, and South Fremantle Power Station.

Our Security Officers are deployed at all sites and stationed at either the main entry or rehabilitation gatehouses, while on-site medics and a Medical Centre ensure physical security and emergency medical response at the major sites to provide a holistic approach to risk mitigation.

Every site presents unique challenges; our teams are trained to adapt and deliver robust security while maintaining a welcoming environment for workers and visitors.

Beyond Security: Strengthening Workplace Safety and Wellbeing

At Synergy’s energy generation sites, security isn’t just about protecting assets - it’s about protecting people.

We play an active role in Synergy’s broader safety strategy, helping to identify risks, minimise occupational violence, and enhance emergency preparedness.

Our Role in Synergy's Safety Strategy:

  • Access Control and Perimeter Protection – Preventing unauthorised entry and ensuring site security.
  • Emergency Response and Medical Support – On-site Wilson Medic One paramedics provide immediate care.
  • Occupational Violence Prevention – Training staff to recognise and respond to aggression and workplace threats.
  • Incident Investigation and Risk Audits – Supporting continuous improvement and compliance through detailed reporting and analysis.
  • Contractor Safety Leadership – Cross-partner collaboration to uphold and share best safety practices.

This integrated approach strengthens Synergy’s workplace safety culture, ensuring every employee and contractor returns home safely at the end of the day.

A Culture of Safe Production: Synergy and Wilson Security in Action

Wilson Security was proud to co-host the Synergy Contract Partners Health, Safety & Wellbeing Forum on February 12, 2025.

With the theme "Driving a Culture of Safe Production," the event brought together Synergy’s valued partners to build on 2023 safety commitments and explore how leadership can drive meaningful workplace safety improvements.

Key Forum Takeaways:

  • "There is no IP in safety" Knowledge must be shared, and safety must be a collective responsibility.
  • Stronger Collaboration – Cross-team engagement ensures that safety is a shared priority across all contractors.
  • Proactive Psychosocial Risk Management – Addressing occupational violence and aggression (OVA) fosters a safer, more resilient workforce.

Wilson Security attendees, including HSE Business Partner Maria Vilarino Diaz, reaffirmed our commitment to safety leadership and strengthening Synergy’s safety culture.

Looking Ahead: A Partnership for the Future

This 20-year partnership is more than a security contract - it's a strategic collaboration focused on innovation, continuous improvement, and a shared vision for safety.

Together, Wilson Security and Synergy are setting new benchmarks for workplace safety, integrating leading security practices with a proactive approach to risk management.

As we look to the future, our shared goal remains the same:

To create safer, more secure workplaces where safety and productivity are not competing priorities but work together for everyone’s benefit.
