Southern Cross Station

Project Overview

Wilson Security has provided security services at Southern Cross Station since July 2001. Duties include security, customer service (including Bus Interchange Facility management, Luggage Hall and baggage handling) and car park management.

Around 100,000 people visit Southern Cross Station every day – a number that swells to 200,000 during events at the nearby Etihad Stadium. The Southern Cross Station precinct comprises the Train Interchange Facility, Bus Interchange Facility, an 800 bay car park as well as 40 retail outlets under management by Delaware North. A 140 Direct Factory Outlet (DFO) facility is also located within the Southern Cross Station precinct, which directly impacts the Station. There is also an interface with Etihad Stadium, which links to Southern Cross Station via the Bourke Street Bridge.

In addition to guarding, security and patrolling duties, Security Officers are required to assist with crowd control and emergency response. All Officers are provided with appropriate emergency response and fire warden training.

There is also a strong customer relations focus for our Officers working at Southern Cross, who act as visitor and customer service liaison points at any time during their shifts. This helps to ensure that visitors to Southern Cross Station enjoy a positive experience.
